According to research conducted by the Professional Representation Network, the UK’s top contractors earn three times the average UK wage. The average annual earnings of the top 100,000 contractors is around £80,000 per annum, compared to the national average income of £27,000.

They are the highest paid contractors in the UK according to Robert Walters The 2015 Global Salary Survey. An IT director can take home anywhere between £700 and £1,000 a day, a security specialist between £400 and £650, a business analyst can charge anywhere between £450 and £500, a Java developer £400 to £550, and a Systems Administrator £300 to £400.

The REC Report confirmed that five types of IT contracts were especially in demand: business intelligence, Java, .Net, software and SQL.
